Who do you know who would thrive in an environment like Distilled? Send us someone we end up hiring, and we’ll give you an Apple Watch (or something else you’d prefer – see details and rules).
So, apart from getting a shiny gadget on your wrist, why would you send Distilled job ads to your friends?
Here’s what you need to know
We have a wide range of roles open:
SEO and digital marketing consultants (both entry-level analyst positions and those requiring experience)
Client development / sales in all three cities
Developer roles (front-end on our Creative team, as well as back-end on our R&D team)
Recruiter / HR in any office
We offer some great benefits beyond the standard ones, including:
A personal budget of £750 / $1,200 per year to spend on anything that makes you happier and more productive at work (hardware, software, fancy chair, standing desk, training, etc.)
A Kindle for every new joiner along with some of our recommended books
Company-funded drinks and snacks on Friday afternoons
We put a lot of effort into making Distilled a fantastic place to work. We recently had an all-hands email thread while we were redesigning our jobs page (coming soon!) where the whole team discussed what brought them to Distilled and why they are still here.
It got many great replies – including a whole bunch talking about how people’s friends had typically had 2-3 jobs in the time they’d been with us. Among a load of gems, this reply stood out:
A combination of an informal environment, freedom, and high expectations – I wanted a place where I could be myself and grow doing/learning things that I was passionate about, while having lots of smart people around me to collaborate with in doing so.
I came from a huge, strictly regimented and siloed company, and was fed up with being told "that's a great idea, but it's not your job", and Distilled seemed to be the polar opposite.
As well as that, I think we’re probably the best place for anyone looking to hone their digital marketing skills and make a name for themselves. Between our own blog, our close relationships with companies like Moz, our SearchLove conferences, and our access to other speaking opportunities, our team has repeatedly demonstrated that smart and motivated people can quickly become renowned experts in our field.
Which friends should apply?
Everyone has those friends who are fun to hang out with, but who you wouldn’t recommend anyone hire. How can you figure out which of your friends would thrive at Distilled?
Our core values might help. The people who do best at Distilled are those who embody those values and who are at their best operating in an environment where they are expected to take ownership and get things done.
These are the things we care about. We want to find the very best people regardless of who they are – so please do think far and wide. (The popularity of the Apple Watch outside the classic geek gadget crowd is one of the reasons we picked it as the reward and we’ve been making changes to our processes to crack down on even unconscious biases).
So if you know someone who’d be great at Distilled, send them our way and tell them to mention that you sent them:
Some lightweight rules
We try not to be too onerous with the rules, but we need to have a few:
- This offer is open for candidates referred to us before the end of September 2015 or until we update this post to end it
- You'll need to be in the US or UK for us to send you a watch, and this offer is obviously not available anywhere it's prohibited
- We're not going to be getting you a top-of-the-line Apple Watch Edition, I'm afraid. You can have any Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport up to a maximum value of £649
- We aren't actually going to limit you to Apple Watches (which do still need iPhones to be any use). If you'd prefer an Android watch or tablet or a great Kindle, we're open to your ideas, up to the same value
- Make sure you get any applicants you refer to mention you in the "other information" section of our application form
- Play nicely and don't abuse our kindness
