6 years ago, almost to the day, Will and I sat in my front room and started the company that became Distilled.
It is with great pride that today I am able to announce Tom Critchlow will be relocating to New York and will open our 3rd office.
A year ago this week, Rob and I flew out to Seattle to open our 2nd office. Just a year later the team in Seattle consists of 8 people and this month has already proved to be the best in our short history. Rob has built a fantastic team who are getting some amazing results for some great clients. The Seattle office contributed 1/3 of our revenue this year and helped Distilled as a whole double revenue and triple profits 09/10 vs 10/11.
It is of enormous credit to everyone involved that we are in a position to expand further and open a New York office.
“I don’t drink coffee I take tea my dear I like my toast done on one side And you can hear it in my accent when I talk I’m an Englishman in New York” Englishman in New York, StingTom is currently part way through an SEO project consulting on site with SEOmoz.
Whilst Tom is working hard in Seattle we will be ensuring everything is ready to allow us to open with a bang in June. Tom is currently our Head of Search and over the years has been a vital ingredient in everything good at Distilled. He has helped grow the company in terms of the resource we are able to assign to projects but more importantly in terms of the expertise each and every project gets.
Closer to the opening date we will be advertising for SEO consultants and a Sales executive to join Tom. These hires will have an amazing opportunity to help shape the culture, growth and direction of Distilled NY. If you are interested in knowing more about these roles, or want to express an interest now, please drop me a line.
We are in the midst of exciting times. Today we are running our first ever 1 day conference focused entirely on link building.
Next week we take this conference to New Orleans, which is the first time we have run a conference in the US. On May the 16th and 17th we are bringing our Pro SEO seminar to Boston. We anticipate events contributing 20% of our revenue this financial year.
Sure with a bit of foresight we could have run this in New York, but that’s half the fun of being of being a (relatively) small business. Things move incredibly quickly, and knowing you have a fantastic team taking care of the day to day aspects it’s exciting to have an idea, and see it turn into a reality seemingly overnight.
