John comes to Distilled after working as an in-house SEO with a small marketing firm in Center City, Philadelphia. His work experience previous to this includes running the day to day operations of a small online book publishing company in Switzerland, as well as a technical support manager for a software development firm in Northern Virginia.

A graduate of James Madison University in 2007, John majored in Technical Writing with a concentration in web development. John first cut his teeth on SEO working for a software company immediately after college, and gained more experience in design and marketing while running Destinee Media.

In his spare time, John enjoys shooting travel and lifestyle photography, blogging on his personal SEO site, traveling, extreme skiing, longboarding, rock climbing, and any other extreme sport you can think of.

John’s main SEO and online marketing competencies include content marketing and strategy, as well as large and creative linkbuilding initiatives. He also enjoys getting his hands dirty in Analytics and finding the wins that his clients have overlooked in the past.
